Welp, looks like the Cannonball Run over in Spain has come to a halt. Police impounded 71 of thier luxury cars while they were in the midst of speeding, swerving, and recklessly endangering the lives of peasents for no other apparent reason than the fact that they can.

The 23 inch widescreen LCD monitor market is quickly expanding. I first took notice when Apple released thier 23 inch cinema display. Then along came HP with the L2335 which isnt as nice looking, but is cheaper and sports a plethora of video input connections and PIP. Now SONY has entered the foray with the SDMP234B.

SONY's 23 incher uses the same exact LG manufactured 16ms LCD panel as Apple and HP. What SONY brings to the table is a reealy nice black and brushed metal exterior complete with glowing SONY emblem (mmm... glowing emblem) and what appears to be touch controls. There has also been no reports of uneven blacklighting as some HP owners have attested to.

So Apple finally revealed the new iMac. Its pretty cool looking, but I can't but help be slightly disappointed. It really boils down to little more than a big laptop/tablet on a stand. The specs are pretty disappointing too. Yes it does have a new G5 64-bit processor, but the video card is a measly 64MB Nvidia GeForce 5200, which is like 5 years old....

Its now official, my next computer will be a PC.

Slick new iPod car integration kit

Well, I've had my iPod hooked up to my car for about a year now. I did it the typical way, using the belkin power adapter with the built in audio output and one of those CD changer connector to RCA input boxes. This solution is good except for one nagging problem: I cant change tracks from the steering wheel controls. This is a minor inconvenience, but pretty annoying after you've gotten used to flipping through CD tracks without taking you hand off the wheel.

So along comes Neo Car Audio with a kit that works with a surprising long list of cars and fully integrates car controls with your iPod. Its a much more elegant solution than the previous alternatives. It even looks to work better than the Official Apple BMW solution.

If your just looking for an in car iPod solution, this is it. If you like me, I guess you have to weigh how much changing tracks from the steering wheel is worth....

I've been watching the Olympics alot this past week and a half. I've always been interested in the technology behind alot of what goes on there including how alot of the timing is done for events. Then one night NBC flashed this photo on the screen (above) and I became REALLY interested in exactly what they were doing/using to time the track and field events. SFGate has an interesting article that talks about this and other technologies they use at the Olympic games. Now I'm trying to find out the details of the huge drainable pool and 3D display technology they used in the opening ceremonies.

A new study shows that the suns cosmic rays may be to blame for "global warming". Scientists are presenting a paper that shows they found a correlation between the amount of cloud cover and the 11 year cycle of sunspot activity. I'm sure this won't fly very well in the ever more politically motivated Earth Science community. Mystery Solved... The Maybach

About a month ago I was driving on the LIE on a Sunday and a real exotic looking car flew by at around 80 MPH in the HOV lane. I've seen plenty of nice cars in the Hamptons (Bentleys, Rolls Royce, Ferraris, etc), but this was something I'd never seen before. I couldnt make out the emblem as it was going by, but I did notice the rear window curtains! Well I finally found out what it was.. a Maybach. HowStuffWorks.com has a great overview of some of it features, which include a refrigerator, reclining rear seats, a glass sunroof controlled by liquid crystal, V-12 540+ HP, and the list goes on. They go for $300,000 to $400,000 and only 1,000 are made a year. Now I just wonder who was in it....
